Greg Burd, Principal
Greg has 13 years of business intelligence experience successfully working with customers ranging from Fortune 500 to mid-sized businesses. His expertise in managing and implementing business intelligence solutions has allowed him to gain expertise across a variety of industries and platforms. In addition to his customer management responsibilities, Greg has also been responsible for managing and helping to create horizontal business intelligence and retail industry specific offers for Claraview.
His project experience includes all project lifecycle stages from strategic planning through to final delivery and life cycle maintenance. Greg has hands-on experience in technical architecture, design, development, and deployment of business intelligence solutions on a wide range of platforms and technologies including very large relational databases, ETL, and web-based business intelligence applications. He has successfully implemented the MicroStrategy, SAP BusinessObjects and IBM Cognos business intelligence suites of tools for numerous industry leading companies. His project experience runs deep in a number of business verticals including retail, insurance, finance, public education, and government organizations.
Prior to joining Claraview, Greg joined forces with a colleague to establish a business intelligence practice at Premiere Systems Support. He analyzed, designed, and implemented multi-tier business intelligence applications based on the MicroStrategy product suite in enterprise environments. In addition, Greg developed his educational and consulting skills as a Consulting Education Manager and Production Consultant with MicroStrategy. He was responsible for developing KSAs by title level and helped define growth paths with supporting soft skill, technical and management training curricula for a 500+ person consulting organization. In addition, he successfully implemented the MicroStrategy suite of products at over a dozen projects for Fortune 500 customers in the Midwest region.
Greg holds a Bachelor of Science in Politics from the Washington & Lee University.
Michael Gonzales, Principal
Michael L. Gonzales has been a Chief Architecture and Solutions Strategist for over a decade, specializing in business intelligence technologies and techniques. Mr. Gonzales is currently a Principal at Claraview, a Division of Teradata, where he leads the formulation of BI Strategy and research into industry best practices. Prior to Claraview, Mr. Gonzales ran HandsOn-BI (www.handson-bi.com), a company devoted to BI industry thought leadership, education and consulting services.
He is a PhD candidate at the University of Texas of El Paso and a successful author; his latest book is BI Strategy: How to Create and Document.
Steve Gordon, Principal
Steve has over 20 years of business intelligence (BI) experience in all aspects of delivering successful BI implementations, including performance tuning, database design and application development. Steve is currently focused on expanding Claraview's presence in the retail, manufacturing, travel, telecommunications, media and entertainment industries.
Prior to joining Claraview, Steve was the sales leader for retail industry solutions with IBM’s Global Business Services organization in the Americas. Steve joined IBM’s retail industry team in 2004 and focused his efforts on building the retail business intelligence solution practice and delivered IBM’s first retail data warehouse logical model worldwide.
Steve started his career at Urban Decision Systems, an early provider of Geographic Information Systems for retail site location before joining Metaphor Computer Systems, a pioneer in Decision Support integrated solutions, as an applications consultant. Metaphor was acquired by IBM and Steve started his own business intelligence consultancy in 1990, Endeavor Systems, which he sold in 1994 to Inacom to join Sage Communications, a Scottsdale, AZ based consultancy focused on industry data warehousing where he was VP of Sales and Marketing and Managing Director. When Sage was sold to BSG/Alliance IT, Steve continued as a Managing Director before leaving in 1997 to join Sequent Computer Systems where he led their Americas CRM practice sales efforts. Sequent was bought by IBM where Steve became head of retail industry marketing for the newly merged server organization and also worked in the emerging technology area of Grid/Cloud computing.
Steve holds a B.A. in Geography from UCLA and a M.A. in Planning from the University of Southern California.
David Grattan, Principal
In his role as Principal of Claraview, David is responsible for leading the Education Analytics practice for Claraview. He manages all business development and service delivery activities for multiple projects within the Federal Department of Education and multiple State Education Agencies. He has experience in a wide range of account management, project management, and technical project implementations in both the commercial and federal government markets.
From 1998 to 2004, David was a Solutions Director at Idea Integration, where he was responsible for overall sales and delivery of all technical consulting services for both commercial and government projects. Prior to that, from 1990 to 1997, David was a Project Manager at Perspective Technology Corporation, where he managed a variety of practices and projects to implement financial accounting systems, telecommunications applications, and customer relationship management systems.
David holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Marketing and Management Information Systems from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
Dave Silberstein, Principal
Dave has over 25 years of experience in information technology, including expertise in end-to-end system delivery, business development, program management, and strategic consulting in Healthcare Provider, Life Sciences, High Technology, Government, Networking, and other industries. He is responsible for the development and expansion of Claraview’s Healthcare Practice.
Prior to Claraview, Dave spent over 7 years at Cerner Corporation, one of the market leading software companies providing clinical and operational ERP systems to healthcare organizations. He was responsible for ensuring the quality delivery of services for the entire Cerner Millennium implementation life cycle, including engagements ranging from small community hospitals to large IDNs and academic medical centers. Prior to Cerner, Dave led technology practices at Accenture and Deloitte Consulting, delivering data warehouse and IT strategy solutions for global pharmaceutical companies and several government agencies. Dave was also a Chief Architect at Titan Corporation where he managed the growth of technology architecture for the development of client/server technologies and Internet/Intranet-based applications for public and private sector clients nationwide.
Dave holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Hampshire College.
Rob Trenkamp, Principal
Rob has 12+ years of hands-on experience in software product development, including requirements definition, project management, system architecture design, and system development. He focuses on decision support / business intelligence systems, in particular web-based information analysis, executive dashboards for situational awareness, and real-time alerting applications.
Prior to joining Claraview, Rob was Director of Product Management in MicroStrategy. He was responsible for the MicroStrategy business intelligence software product line, including definition of short- and long-term product strategy and direction, sales objectives for direct and indirect channels, product positioning, pricing, and go-to-market. Rob drove the transition from a consulting-intensive product implementation to a more customer-configurable process.
Rob holds a Masters degree in Engineering Management, a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, and a Bachelors degree in Engineering Sciences from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College.
Brian Valeyko, Consulting Manager
Brian has over 14 years of experience leading complex technical projects. His expertise includes business intelligence and data warehousing strategy, design, and implementation, large-scale web application design and development, and hosting/outsourcing of IT services. He currently focuses on Claraview’s retail and government practices.
Before joining Claraview, Brian worked as an independent consultant concentrating on solution architecture; capture management and proposal development in the federal IT space. He was also Vice President of Operations for Optimus Corporation (now Aviel, Inc.), responsible for a division of over 100 technical staff at the National Institutes of Health, Federal Aviation Administration, United States Army, and National Labor Relations Board. From 1995 to 2005, Brian was at ATS (now ATSC), serving in multiple technical, management, and marketing roles.
Brian holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia, an M.S. in Engineering Management from The George Washington University and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS).
