Strategically Managing Projects to Completion

Greg Burd, Principal

Greg has over 10 years of business intelligence experience successfully managing data warehouse projects. He has been involved in all projects stages: from strategic planning through to final delivery and life cycle maintenance. Greg has hands-on experience in technical architecture, design, development, and deployment of business intelligence solutions on a wide range of platforms and technologies including very large relational databases, ETL, and web-based business intelligence applications. He has successfully implemented the MicroStrategy and Cognos business intelligence suites of tools at over 25 customers. His project experience runs deep in a number of business verticals including finance, retail, public education, and government organizations.

Prior to joining Claraview, Greg was Project Manager at Premiere Systems Support. He analyzed, designed, and implemented multi-tier business intelligence applications based on the MicroStrategy product suite in enterprise environments. Previously, Greg was Consulting Education Manager and Production Consultant with Microstrategy. He developed KSAs by title level and helped define growth paths with supporting soft skill, technical and management training curricula for over 500 person consulting organization. In addition, he successfully implemented the MicroStrategy suite of products at over a dozen projects for fortune 1000 customers in the Midwest region.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Science in Politics from the Washington & Lee University.

Joseph Edson, Principal

Joseph has over 16 years of professional experience, including eight years with a Fortune 200 Financial Services Corporation.  He has a breadth of experience in leading BI Strategy for large, complex organizations, specializing in multiple areas including leadership, architecture, and strategy.  He has both managed platforms and led product implementations, including leading the sponsorship efforts.

In his previous role, Joseph specialized in internal consulting for Business Intelligence strategy and enterprise data architecture, focused on BI technologies and practices across multiple divisions within a fast-paced environment that was continually spinning up or acquiring new businesses.  He brings relevant commercial experiences in working with MicroStrategy, SAS, Hyperion (including Brio), Business Objects (including Crystal Decisions), SPSS,  as well as ETL experience with Ab Initio, warehousing experience in Teradata, DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server, and metadata management experience with ASG-Rochade.

Joseph holds a MS in Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia in addition to a MS in Statistics and Educational Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany.

Michael Gonzales, Principal

As a Principal with Claraview, Michael brings over 15 years experience as a Chief Architect, Senior Solutions Strategist, and Industry Analyst. He offers clients practical knowledge of the challenges and critical success factors involved in building and managing large databases, data warehouses, and enterprise-wide business intelligence (BI) environments, across a variety of industries and business applications.

Michael's expertise in the area of production databases, data warehouse, and BI architecture is distinguished by his ability to discover the business requirements unique to the organization and assimilating those requirements in the architecture itself. He is a successful author, a frequent speaker at industry user conferences, and conducts data warehouse and BI courses internationally through leading training and conference providers.

Prior to joining Claraview, Michael was the founding Managing Partner of HandsOn-BI, LLC, and The Focus Group, Ltd.

He holds a Masters in Computer Resource and Information Management and has completed Post Graduate Work in Software Engineering and Statistical Science.

David Grattan, Principal

In his role as Principal of Claraview, David is responsible for managing the Department of Education account for Claraview. He manages all business development and service delivery activities for multiple projects within the account. He has experience in a wide range of account management, project management, and technical project implementations in both the commercial and federal government markets.

From 1998 to 2004, David was a Solutions Director at Idea Integration, where he was responsible for overall sales and delivery of all technical consulting services for both commercial and government projects. Prior to that, from 1990 to 1997, David was a Project Manager at Perspective Technology Corporation, where he managed a variety of practices and projects to implement financial accounting systems, telecommunications applications, and customer relationship management systems.

David holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Marketing and Management Information Systems from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.

Paula Mueller, Principal

In her role as a Claraview Principal, Paula is responsible for the growth and management of Claraview's consulting engagements within the government sector. She has over 12 years of experience working with clients to define and develop business intelligence and data warehousing strategies and environments that support organizational goals and objectives. She has significant experience with business strategy formulation, methodology development, and solution architecture assessment. Paula has led a diverse set of initiatives, including definition and phased-implementation of enterprise-wide data architectures, data warehouses, and departmental data marts for both commercial and public sector organizations.

Prior to joining Claraview, Paula was a Principal at CGI-AMS, where she served as a Business Intelligence subject matter expert and project manager for multiple commercial and public sector clients from 1994 to 2004. As a Principal, she was responsible for project execution, financial management, client relationship management, and business development.

Paula holds bachelors of Science in Economics and Computer Science Engineering degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mark Olivero, Principal

Mark has over 10 years of experience implementing business intelligence solutions and data warehouses for a number of leading retailers and consumer products companies.  He has managed all phases of business intelligence implementations from design, development, testing, and deployment to support.  Mark has experience developing business intelligence strategies in addition to hands on experience successfully deploying business intelligence on a variety of software packages and platforms including SAP BI, Business Objects, Oracle, SQL Server, JDA/Arthur and Hyperion Essbase.

Prior to joining Claraview, Mark was a Senior Manager at Accenture and also spent time with Deloitte Consulting.  He primarily concentrated on providing BI strategies and solutions for large SAP implementations.  Mark was also Vice President of Data Administration at J.Crew, responsible for implementing and managing their business intelligence and planning environments as well as their infrastructure teams.  In addition to his experience working with business intelligence, Mark has also spent a significant amount of time implementing merchandise and assortment planning solutions as well as allocation and replenishment tools.  Before entering the technology field, Mark spent time as a Merchant and a Planner for various retailers.

Mark graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science in applied economics. 

Rob Trenkamp, Principal

Rob has 12+ years of hands-on experience in software product development, including requirements definition, project management, system architecture design, and system development. He focuses on decision support / business intelligence systems, in particular web-based information analysis, executive dashboards for situational awareness, and real-time alerting applications.

Prior to joining Claraview, Rob was Director of Product Management in MicroStrategy. He was responsible for the MicroStrategy business intelligence software product line, including definition of short- and long-term product strategy and direction, sales objectives for direct and indirect channels, product positioning, pricing, and go-to-market. Rob drove the transition from a consulting-intensive product implementation to a more customer-configurable process.

Rob holds a Masters degree in Engineering Management, a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, and a Bachelors degree in Engineering Sciences from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College.
