Qualifications
The BI Architect will work side by side with other talented BI professionals serving multiple customer accounts to ensure customer success. These customers will have problems with developing an architecture that not only supports individual project needs, but addresses strategic planning for big data issues over time. The BI Architect will be the critical piece in ensuring that all customers’ initial design is done according to best practices and that the delivery teams adhere to industry best practices throughout the project lifecycle. The BI Architect’s responsibilities will cover all aspects required to successfully deploy including the following: semantic layer design, BI technical architecture, performance tuning BI applications, and logical and physical data model design and implementation.
The BI Architect will be responsible for rapidly developing dimensional models based on a foundation of 3NF physical models. Experience in ER - Dimensional Data Modeling, Data Analysis & Definition to deliver Normalized ER & STAR/SNOWFLAKE schemas is a must. Strong foundation in industry standard Data Warehousing design concepts is required. Experience with creating Prototypes including – creating storyline and data, populating 3NF with mock-up data, creating views to mimic dimensional models (Virtual Star schemas) a big plus. Experience with Healthcare, Telco, Banking, Utilities, or Retail industry is a plus.
Requirements
Dimensional Modeling
- 5 year hands on experience designing and implementing Star Schemas
- Comprehensive Knowledge of Ralph Kimball’s Data Modeling Concepts including Transaction dimensions, conformed dimensions and facts, slowly changing dimensions, multi-Star/ Snowflake Schema Modeling, different types of Fact tables
- Prior experience implementing DW presentation layer - including design and definition of logical tables, physical sources, dimensions, columns and aggregation rules.
3NF (Relational) Logical and Physical Modeling
- 3-5 year hands on experience Logical Data Modeling (3NF)
- Comprehensive Knowledge of Bill Inmon’s Data Modeling Concepts (Logical and Physical) including 3NF, Supertypes, Subtypes, Abstraction, Associative entities / tables
- Teradata Physical Modeling and Performance Tuning including Primary, Secondary index, JIs, AJIs, PPIs (SLPPI, MLPPI) etc
SQL & Tools
- Advanced skills in writing SQL queries, views, and optimization of SQL queries are necessary.

Business Intelligence
- Extensive experience with BI application architecture and development
- Experience with MicroStrategy or BusinessObjects or Cognosor Tableau at the minimum
- Hands-on experience in designing technical architecture, installation and configuration of BI Stack components
- Extensive knowledge in Presentation layer such as MOLAP, ROLAP, HOLAP, Ad-hoc reports.
Other
- Knowledge of Hub-n-Spoke Architecture and Bus Architecture
- Experience with Software Development Life Cycle, including requirements gathering, documentation testing and knowledge transfer is required.
- Collaborates with business and technology resources to identify key business requirements for Business Intelligence (BI)
- Data Integration, Data Mapping, ETL
- Location & Travel Requirements: This position requires travel which is estimated at 80% depending on the location and project assignment. This position offers you the freedom to live anywhere in the U.S. as long as you are near a major airport. Relocation is not available for this position.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred
